Shutter Speeds

Shutter speeds capture the image when the camera is at a certain timing. 1/60th and 1/100th of a second were used for all of my photos. Shutter speeds capture the image while the content of the photo is moving. I would use a slower shutter speed to create a motion blurred photo whereas i would use a faster shutter speed to create a still image.

My photo above that I took was set to 1/100th of a second and this then portrayed a look of a more still image. My main problem with this image was that the leaves off the branches of the trees interfered with the movement of the leaves that Jodi threw in the air. I then solved this problem by moving the background of the image to a more branch-less tree, the image below was my second try at the movement of leaves and proved to be a better image to use.

The photo above that i took was set to 1/60th of a second which then portrayed a look of a more motion blurred image around Jake's hands and the leaves that are in the air around him. However, my target of taking this type of image next time would be to do the movement of leaves away from any trees that could possibly interfere with the quality of the image.

The photo to the left above that i took was set to 1/100th of a second which was my worst attempt with Jake and Beth compared to the image to the right above that I took at 1/60th of a second which made my image a greater quality image and a better motion blurred image as Jess and Karis's hands, hair, legs and feet are motioned blurred compared to my first attempt with Jake and Beth.

The photo above I toke at 1/60th of a second and was my first and best try at the movement of running. The quality of this image is great as my focus on the camera was set to take a great quality image. However my problem with this image was the fact that the image was underexposed, i would solve this problem next time as i would change the time of day i took the image at.

Light Drawings

I did this image with a skipping rope wrapped around my body and then ran around Beth. I made the white light at the top by having a torch displayed on my face while running around Beth.

This photo was created by a skipping rope being circled in the air.

This photo was created by having 2 skipping ropes wrapped round us and then we used quick movements to create this effect.

This photo was created by drawing a heart shape in a dark room with a torch.

Photographic Post-Production Work

This is my original image.

This is my auto corrected image, i did this by selecting the image option at the top of photoshop and clicking on auto tone, auto contrast and auto colour.

This is my dodge and burn image, i did this by using the dodge and burn tool and by going over the parts of the image. Using the dodge side of the tool i made aspects of my image lighter and using the burn side of the tool i made aspects of my image darker.

This is my cross process image and also my finished image. I applied cross process to my image by viewing a tutorial. I played with curves and this created a more deeper vivid colour.

Composition Photos

In the photo to the right the eye-line is high
which makes the subject give off a sense
of power and dominance. The use of the
hoody creates a typical teenager stereotype. My image was in focus while taking this shot to unsure a greater quality image. I think this image is well composed as the quality of the photo is good and the eyeline is suited to the photo as power is highly recognised. I did use zoom in on this image to make sure that Tim's top half of him was in the image and his eyeline was the main focus of the image.

In the photo to the right my main focus was the use of lines. The lines of the trees lead towards the main focal point. This is effective because the line of trees and the line of the path makes the viewer look towards the focal point. My image was in focus while taking this shot to unsure a better quality image. I did not use zoom as I wanted to get the full view of the scenes into my image.

In the photo to the right my main focus was the use of tilt up. Tilt up creates an unattractive view of the focal point by making the jaw line and the chin and the nose seem larger than it is. My image was in focus while taking this shot to unsure a more detailed quality image. I did use zoom as I wanted to make sure that Beth's face and top half was the main focus of the image and the top of the trees behind her.

In the photo to the right my main focus was the frame within a frame effect. The focal point is maximized due to the frame. My image was in focus when i toke this image to unsure that I got a greater quality image. I did use zoom just a little bit to ensure i got the frame into my image.

Induction Evaluation

Induction Evaluation

Photography

When taking the photographs I used manual focus. I have learnt that the zoom on the camera is very highly sensitive and only needs a delicate touch to be zoomed in. I have learnt that the focus rings on the camera are also very delicate and break easily. When you turn it left the quality of the photo decreases the sharpness of the foreground whereas if you turn it right the focus sharpens and the quality increases.
I learnt that while standing in a T-stance you have more movability while you are taking photos as you have more stable balance to move backwards, forwards and sideways.  Therefore while being in the T-stance I learnt that I could use portrait and landscape mode more easily balanced. Portrait being vertical and landscape being horizontal.
When taking the photographs, I did make the mistake of forgetting that all my photographs were meant to be portrait. This caused a problem for me as I toke some good photos in landscape; wanting to use them as my front cover, but couldn’t as they were meant to be portrait. As I concentrated on the focus being accurate, most of my photos were. I had a couple of photos that were not accurately focused as the person in the photograph had moved. I would improve this next time to make sure that the person does not move and I have a good focus on the photo before they do move.
I learnt that the lighting changed a lot while taking the photos as being in a park, it had all different types of lightening. If the lightening was behind the objects in the photograph it was difficult to pick up a good effect.
I think my photos were well composed as they were well in focus and they were overall good photos as I got quite a lot of photos that I could of chose from for my front cover. Their wasn’t really a problem with eye line as I focused on acing that most of the time although a few of my pictures had a low eye line as they were taken on benches, near bushes etc.
I thought a lot about my background I used for my images as I wanted my images to look very professional. As my images were toke in a park, this made it easier for me to make my images look professional as there was gorgeous back ground scenes.
I thought I handled my subject very good as I am good with people and make friends easily. My people skills never effect my work as I am good at being friendly and getting on with people in a group or partner work to get work done.

Photoshop

On Photoshop I used ‘Horizontal Type Tool’ to write my sell lines onto my front cover such as my Reward headline, Question headline and my Command headline. I also used the ‘Gradient tool’ to create my button for my front cover to show the price. As I’m using Photoshop for the first time, I am finding it quite difficult to grasp as there is so much you can do. There are so many different effects and ways you can make your image look 100 times better. I think the text that I used was very controlled as it wasn’t inappropriate and it wasn’t too little. While using Photoshop for my front cover image I used the bevel and emboss effect to make my circle look 3D. I also used the bevel and emboss effect to make all my text look 3D and more interesting to the readers as it makes it look more eye catching and make the readers stop and look at my front cover.
I used bright colours for my front cover, as the colours aren’t boring they are more interesting and vivid so therefore catches the audience’s attention towards the magazine cover. I used colours like pink, red, blue, yellow and orange to make the front cover more attractive to look at as other magazines are boring and dull to look at which doesn’t catch reader’s attentions.
I would improve my front cover by making it look like a professional did it. I would do this by doing more research into Photoshop so I know all the effects and ways I can make it look better and stand out more than it does to others. I would also do more research on magazines and see what different types of styles I can do with Photoshop to make my magazine more professional.
My strengths to my magazine would be that it is attractive as it is colourful and by the sell lines; gets the messages across to the audience quickly without boring paragraphs and too much information to scan read.
